I’m Serene, an adult with severe psychiatric conditions and a severe case of idiopathic hypersomnia. I am also queer, trans, and autistic. I have been deemed permanently disabled, meaning that I am unable to work to support myself. I am on my province’s disability support program, but it is no secret that recipients of it live well below the poverty line. And factoring in the rising cost of living and stagnation of income, living on disability benefits is a constant struggle.

I need money to help with living expenses (groceries, bills, etc.), buying foods that fit my dietary restrictions (I am eating mostly gluten-free and dairy-free), buying medications that aren’t covered by my insurance, bus tickets, and caring for my senior cat (food, supplies, vet bills, etc.).
